Excursions

Educational trips are an important aspect of daily school life and permit the students to live a variety of experiences together with their professors. Acquiring knowledge is here a result of an attitude of curiosity and of being open minded towards the outside world; with layers of experiences growing by and by. This is a questioning of the concept of a pupil as an empty vessel, where presumably stable knowledge is poured into. Exploring the city, the students find themselves in an active mode, which presumes a researcher’s approach to develop cognition. In art education, excursions play an important part in order for students to gain necessary information from museums, exhibitions, newspaper production, the outside world in general, such as urban or natural landscapes, where they may get lost in observation and perception.
