Warm up / Mal di testa

In two group shows in the Gallery Neon in Bologna, Barbara Fässler has reacted to the situation of the group show itself, once with an installation in the space, which connected the other artists works and the second time by asking a series of very elementary questions about making art in a sound file which was played during the opening.

The exhibition “Warm up” was a huge collective show with over eighty artists in the Galleria Neon in Bologna, curated by Gino Gianuizzi. Barbara Fässler decided not to add another art work, but to combine the pieces of the other artists and to underline the dimension of space, applying an aluminium tape at eye level around the whole gallery space, as a sort of belt holding everything together. On the tape, she wrote all the names of the participating artists in alphabetical order and dedicated her intervention to the community of the present artists.

In the second group show “Mal di testa”, Barbara Fässler asks a series of existential questions in an audio file about art, the market and the artists. The questions are accompanied by a regular metronome rhythm.

The questions have been read by Marco Paternostro.
