Expo 2015 in Art Education
The didactic units on Expo 2015 topic “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, dealing with food and it’s ecological, health or political implications evolved on different levels depending the age of the pupils, their interests and competences. All the pupils were invited to first complete a questionnaire about different aspects of the food issue. The younger children and adolescents have been working on nature studies and scientific visualization – with pencil or ink – or with collage and painting. One group developed a video about the food topic. The older students researched the theme of utopia, after an introduction about the classical utopias from western history and culture. They were invited to develop their own utopia of a “sustainable” society, to describe it and to visualize it by drawing or through three dimensional models.
