Public Art Lecture

In the lecture about Public Art, held at Bologna Art Academy, Barbara Fässler started by defining the term “Public Space” and the notion “Public Art” in a brainstorming session with the art students participating. In order to assist the development of the students’ own project, she then discussed different theories about the issue and showed a series of public art interventions from different places; some which have provoked public protests. Fässler also showed some examples from a workshop she held in 2008 with Bert Theis during the project GAP Giovani per l’arte pubblica (Young artists for public Art), organized by the municipality of Bologna and curated by Gino Gianuizzi.
